The LA Aqueduct on this 5 mile segment is encased in a pressure-proof pipe, that is mostly half buried, but occasionally is elevated like here as a bridge to cross a seasonally raging arroyo, albeit dry most of the year. If the arroyo is flowing it can be a dangerous flash flood event: you can carefully cross it on the smooth wide pipe, or wait, which can take hours or days. If it's dry stay down on the parallel gravel service road.
