The PCT Trail runs parallel to Sawmill Motorway Forest Road for several miles along the ridge. Here is one of only three places where they actually cross. Early in the year if there is still snow, it may at times be better to follow the dirt road rather than trying to find the trail by GPS under the snow, which might cost s lot of time, and often is steeper and potentially dangerous without crampons.
