The footpath also leads through the heath at the Morsum Cliff. The information board tells you a lot about the heath. See: naturschutz-sylt.de/morsum-kliff-info

Various panels on and in the cliff and in the heath draw attention to this sensitive natural area and explain...very well done

The Morsum Cliff is an impressive natural highlight in the east of Sylt. The cliff is about 1,800 meters long and 21 meters high and is characterized by its unique geological diversity. The different layers of earth, including dark mica clay, red limonite sand, white kaolin sand and brown-yellow boulder clay, give the cliff its characteristic red and white coloring, making it a geological jewel.

The Morsum Cliff is one of the oldest nature reserves in Schleswig-Holstein and offers a variety of flora and fauna. Bird lovers in particular will get their money's worth here, as the area is home to numerous bird species. The surrounding heathland and the Wadden Sea also offer an impressive backdrop for hikes and walks.

A popular hiking trail starts at the Morsum Cliff car park and leads over wooden walkways and well-marked paths along the cliff. Information boards along the way offer exciting insights into the geological features and the local flora and fauna. The path leads past flowering heather, reeds and even historic megalithic tombs before finally returning to the starting point.
