The Gießen Heads are an art and monument project, initiated and organized from 2006 by the city's cultural office (department head Dr. Reinhard Kaufmann, director Dr. Friedhelm Häring). Important personalities in Gießen's history are honored. The city organizes the preparation of the site with a base and information board. In 2012, the last head to date was unveiled at the New Castle; in total, there are 14 Gießen heads in the city, four of which are female (as of 2020).
