The Celle hermitage of Cortona is a monastic complex immersed in the tranquility of the Tuscan countryside. It includes a church, monastic cells carved into the rock, a cloister and a vegetable garden. Its simple and austere architecture reflects the Franciscan style, promoting contemplation and prayer based on the motto "Ora et labora", meaning pray and work. The natural beauty of the surroundings contributes to its mystical and spiritual atmosphere.

The "Le Celle" hermitage is a Franciscan hermitage and is located very close to the Tuscan town of Cortona in the province of Arezzo. This monastery was founded in 1211 - by none other than Francis of Assisi (1181 or 1182 to October 3, 1226).
It was here that Francis built his "Cella"; you can still visit this monastery cell and the oratory of his first companions today. In the year of his death, 1226, he is said to have dictated one of his most valuable writings, his "Testament", in which Francis, who was already blind and very weak, summarized his entire spiritual experience.
