Very beautiful single track trail but also challenging to do. Downhill are recommended because the climb in some sections is not pedalable. It certainly makes an impression to know that those stones (basoli) that are under the wheels have been placed there for over 1000 years. As I walked through them I couldn't help but think of soldiers, legionaries or merchants who had passed before me in Roman times

stretch of woodland path in the Cortona forest, characterized by an irregular and stony path, immersed in the thick green of the vegetation. A sign partially hidden among the plants indicates the presence of a “basolata road” from the Roman imperial era, suggesting that the path follows an ancient road layout. At the top right, you can see a bicycle wheel, a sign that the path is also frequented by cyclists, probably mountain bike or gravel enthusiasts. The atmosphere is wild and historically fascinating, perfect for an adventurous excursion.
