Renatured Gravel Pit and New Cycle Path near Marburg

Something is happening at the gravel works! The renaturation is progressing, you can hear the frogs, swans, ducks and other water birds swimming leisurely on the lake - it's just great how far it has progressed. And since the lake is right next to the new cycle path, a visit is definitely worth it.

The renaturation of the old gravel pits has begun.

The construction project is part of the EU LIFE project "Living Lahn - one river, many demands". The financing is made possible by funds from the LIFE project as well as money from the Hessian fishing levy and from the Integrated Climate Protection Plan 2025. The city of Marburg is supervising the construction work together with the Giessen Regional Council.
