Unfortunately, you can't get all the way there because everything is cordoned off. The Castello Alfonsino (also Castel Rosso after the color of the Carparo blocks from which it was built, or Castello di Mare) is a coastal fortress on the Isola di Sant'Andrea at the entrance to the port of Brindisi in the Italian region of Apulia. The fortress with the Forte a Mare (or Forte di Brindisi, the construction of which took a good 46 years in 1558 under the reign of King Philip II of Spain, the son of King Charles V.

The Alfonsino Castle of Brindisi is also known as Forte a Mare and was built on a small island called Isola di Sant’Andrea. More precisely, it is located at the entrance to the port of Brindisi, which is already of immense natural beauty.
The structure is made up of two fulcrums:
The Aragonese part dating back to 400
The part called Forte a Mare dating back to 500.
In recent years, work has been carried out by the Superintendency aimed at recovering this jewel. The Castle has risen again and, finally, has been reopened to the public. In fact, it is now possible to book a guided tour to discover the wonder of this Castle and its history!
