Long Cove Pond on the south coast in West Tisbury is located in the Long Point Wildlife Refuge and is a freshwater ecosystem. Storm waves in December 2023 flooded the barrier beach to the Atlantic and seawater flowed into the pond. As a result of the sudden influx of seawater, fish died.
