In 1893 the company Parque de Mataró S.A. was established. to build a recreational park on a private estate in Mataró. This private initiative materialized with a series of avenues, flower beds, ponds, a skating rink, a kiosk, several pavilions and a velodrome.
In 1905, two years after the dissolution of the society, the City Council signed a purchase commitment with the owners, which materialized in 1909 with the opening of the park in the city. This was the birth of Mataró Central Park.
