The construction was half-buried, but during the conditioning works, the surrounding land was removed and the northern part has been completely exposed.

Canyamars Ice Well is a monument in the municipality of Dosrius (Maresme) included in the Inventory of Catalan Architectural Heritage.

Popular construction of the XVII-XVIII centuries formed by a circular well of stone and brick (5 m diameter X 7 m high, approx.). Part of this well is underground (between two and three meters) and the other protrudes approx. 4 m, up to a vaulted ceiling (also made of stone and brick). The exterior walls are reinforced with buttresses and there are three openings (windows or doors) of barrel vault.

To the south are two brick vaults, which were supposed to be the bridges that supported the ramp that connected the well with a pond located higher up. From this pond, when the water froze, pieces of ice were sent to the well. Layers of ice and straw were made inside it in order to preserve it until summer, the time of year when it was marketed. Dosrius City Council bought the Ice Well in 2007 from its previous private owners.

The transfer of ice was done with cars and at night, and if it was carried out in good conservation conditions it could reach cities and towns hundreds of kilometers away. In fact, according to what we read and there is evidence in a document from 1937, the ice from this well was even shipped from the port of Mataró towards Cádiz during the 18th century.
