Nobody there, we are alone, all is quiet
Banteay Samre is similar in many ways to Prasat Hin Phimai in modern-day Thailand. Both sanctuaries are classic examples of the Angkor Wat era. They are recognizable by their bud-shaped roof structures. Both were built in the first half of the 12th century.
Banteay Samre is located off the beaten tourist track, about 500 meters east of Pradak.
The color is a striking deep red, and the carvings are very elaborate and well-preserved.

The name Banteay Samrè means "Samré Fortress" and refers to an ancient tribe that is believed to have lived there. The temple's architecture, with its red tile roofs, belongs to the classic styles of the Angkor period.
