The church of Santa Maria presso San Satiro is a parish church in Milan.
The construction of the church was undertaken at the end of the fifteenth century at the behest of Duke Gian Galeazzo Sforza and later continued by Ludovico il Moro as part of an ambitious program of renewal of the arts in the duchy, which included, among other things, calling to the court Milanese artists from all over Italy: the building was in fact designed according to new Renaissance forms imported into the duchy by Donato Bramante. The church, built by incorporating the older chapel of San Satiro from which it took its name, is famous for hosting the so-called fake Bramante choir, a masterpiece of Italian Renaissance perspective painting.adapted from:
