For cyclists and hikers on the Alsterwanderweg the lock is either a popular destination (or start) or a break on the way. The here dammed Alster forms a small lake in front of the lock, on which not only waterfowl feel good in good weather, but also the various water recreational athletes. You have the opportunity either on one of the two sides of the lock their pleasure to pursue - or: out of the water, transport the boat over the lock and back into the water. There you can hear the splashing of water and watch canoeists landing - perfect for relaxing. The old Schleusermeisterhäuschen timbered has been rebuilt and now houses a restaurant with terrace.
