The Wernerwald is a forest of around 315 hectares in the urban area of Cuxhaven in Lower Saxony, Germany. The forest lies between the districts of Sahlenburg, Holte-Spangen and Arensch.
The Wernerwald is - along with a forest near Dangast and Sankt Peter-Ording - the only forest area in Germany that is located directly on the North Sea coast. Pine trees mainly grow on the sandy soil. The Wernerwald has been a protected landscape since January 5, 1939. It contains the Finkenmoor and a pond that is fed by underground springs. As a local recreation area, it is crossed by many hiking and riding trails and is particularly popular with locals, but also with tourists.
