The tower was built in 1915 according to the design of Philipp Kähm, on the site of the grave of German soldiers. The tower was to be transformed into an obelisk in tribute to the soldiers who died during World War I. In the interwar years, the Polish authorities changed its name to the Freedom Tower.
In November 2020, the tower was inventoried and digitized by creating a 3D model of the facility
