During World War II, mass executions of prisoners of the Działdowo camp took place in the forest on a hill near Komorniki. Today, on the site of the executions, there is a cemetery and a monument to the victims of Nazism, designed by the artist Ryszard Wachowski, depicting a huge hand stretched towards the sky, as if in a last, posthumous summons.
