"The chapel is the center of the Lühlerheim Foundation. Residents of the former workers' colony built it themselves in 1911 in the style of Lower Rhine hall churches. In gold letters on the front of the outer facade it says: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened.

For over 100 years, people have been able to come in and find peace, reorient themselves and unload their worries. The chapel not only serves as a place of worship, but is the hub of the Lühlerheim - as a meeting place, concert and assembly room. It is also particularly popular as a wedding church."

Evangelical services take place on the first and third Saturday of each month at 6:15 p.m. Contact: Pastor Hans Herzog, Tel. 02853-4481789

"Our chapel - the center of Lühlerheim:

In the early years there was no church in Lühlerheim. Devotions were held in the main building, services were attended in the Drevenack church. In 1911, to mark the 25th anniversary of the institution, the foundation decided to build its own church.

    Built by the residents themselves:

According to plans and under the direction of government architect Karl Neuhaus from Wesel, the residents of Lühlerheim built their chapel themselves in the style of Lower Rhine hall churches. It was inaugurated as early as 1912. "This first service in the new, pretty little church was an uplifting celebration, uplifting just by the thought that from now on the colonists no longer had to hold their devotions in the much-used dining room..." (from a newspaper report).

Since then, the chapel has served not only as a place of worship, but also as a meeting place, concert hall and assembly room. It is also very popular as a wedding church.

    Extensive renovation in 1984:

The chapel owes its current appearance to a comprehensive renovation in 1984. Under the direction of Wesel cathedral master builder Dr. Wolfgang Deurer, the wooden benches were replaced with chairs; skilled residents made the altar, lectern, wall paneling and lamp holders from the wood of the benches. The leaded glazing in the rear oculi window illustrates the Bible verse on the gable above the entrance door - Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened (Matthew 11:28): a lasting expression of the special importance of the church in this place."
