The Wickeder Holz nature reserve is located in the Dortmund district of Scharnhorst/Brackel and covers an area of around 57.9 hectares. It is characterized by a diverse forest complex surrounded by cultivated landscapes with many hedges. The area serves to preserve and promote habitats for numerous animal and plant species. An important conservation goal is the preservation of mixed deciduous forests and bodies of water, which are important spawning grounds for amphibians. Visitors can use well-developed hiking trails that lead through the idyllic forest area and offer the opportunity to experience the rich flora and fauna.
