The name ottavello derives from the Latin "oetavum milium", eighth mile of the Trebbiana road. Small castle with a quadrangular plan, it still retains many castle peculiarities. On the internal facade you can see the break-ins of the drawbridge and the pedestrian postern, which are no longer present. The castle currently consists of two buildings, located at a certain distance from each other. Some loopholes open in the thick stone walls; on the ground floor and in the basement, the prisons and the chapel where those condemned to death confessed are indicated. Iron rings are fixed on the walls which, according to an oral tradition, were used to hang the quartered bodies of the executed.
