This is where the human rights path in Geesthacht begins. A very good idea.

Amnesty International, the human rights organization (also a Nobel Peace Prize winner), has had a local group in Geesthacht for many years.
For the 800th anniversary of the city of Geesthacht, Amnesty was able to realize the idea of a human rights path in Geesthacht. Between the Elbe Peninsula, Red Square and Fährstieg, 16 panels have been erected to provide information about human rights. It was officially opened on August 18, 2016.

This friendship tree was planted on September 2nd, 2006 on the occasion of "40 years of sister cities" between Geesthacht & Hoogesand - Sappemeer.
Hopefully it will withstand many storms in this unprotected place directly on the Elbe and will grow old and huge. 🌳🍀
