Top cycling routes to Ruins of the Masbach Basalt Works

Tips

  • From 1924 onwards, basalt was mined on the Dietrichsberg. A basalt factory with a loading track was built on the Wenigentaft – Mansbach – Oechsen railway line for further processing and transport. The quarry and factory were connected by a cable car. It was closed at the end of 1961. The massive loading facilities on the former railway line cannot be overlooked.
