In 1924 the quarrying of basalt began on the Dietrichsberg. A basalt works was built near Masbach and a loading track was built on the Wenigentaft-Mansbach-Oechsen railway line to process and transport the extracted material.
The basalt plant near Masbach was shut down at the end of 1961 and was then used as an LPG stable and road maintenance depot.

The wagons could then be loaded with ballast from the higher-lying bunker.

Here basalt from Dietrichsberg was loaded on a large scale - the extensive ruins made of concrete and stone are evidence of this.

From 1924 onwards, basalt was mined on the Dietrichsberg. A basalt factory with a loading track was built on the Wenigentaft – Mansbach – Oechsen railway line for further processing and transport. The quarry and factory were connected by a cable car. It was closed at the end of 1961. The massive loading facilities on the former railway line cannot be overlooked.
