Henner and Frieder...miner and smelter. Two professions typical of the former Siegerland, mining and the metal industry. A lot has changed in this regard in the meantime, which makes it even nicer that the two sculptures keep the memory of it alive. The sculptures were created around 1902 by the sculptor Friedrich Reusch. If you are in Siegen, you should definitely take a look at both of them.

"Henner" (Heinrich) and "Frieder" (Friedrich) are two bronze sculptures that symbolize the history of Siegerland's ore mining and the iron and steel industry. The larger-than-life statues of a miner and a smelter were erected on the Sieg Bridge in 1904 and have since changed locations several times. Today they stand on the new Oberstadt Bridge and overlook the newly designed banks of the Sieg.
