The path starts from Monterosso and if desired with a fair amount of preparation and without too much frenzy it is possible to complete it in Riomaggiore; the advice is to wear shoes suitable for trekking because unfortunately along the route I happened to see numerous people with absolutely unsuitable shoes and therefore at risk of falls or injuries... something to avoid in such an area. The route is paid and this, if on the one hand it is justifiable because it requires "unique and particular" maintenance, on the other, the toll, risks transforming it into a somewhat "exclusive" issue so to speak... .
However, on holidays it is still very, very crowded... so my advice is to avoid weekends and holidays.
