The tranquil station building in Retz was once the terminal station of the railway line towards Hollabrunn/Drosendorf. After the border was opened, rail traffic with the small town of Znajm near the border was also resumed, but despite the Cold War surviving, it was decided in 2001 to stop passenger traffic on the northwest railway line and switch to ÖBB rail buses running parallel to the track. The 3-track station remained open for freight traffic for a few years, but in 2010 train traffic was also stopped for transport. Fortunately, it was decided not to demolish the station building, but to give the well-preserved line a new meaning with the introduction of the seasonal adventure train "Reblaus-Express". Today the station is in operation and is served daily by regional express trains to and from Vienna.
