The idea of the EGIS energy village was born in autumn 2020. Construction of the 125 megawatt solar park began in October 2022. In 2023, the district heating network and the e-charging stations will be built in Bundorf and from 2024 the energy transition of the future with local added value will become a reality in Bundorf. An EGIS energy village that is unique in Germany so far.

A mega project was built here in a rural setting.
A capacity of 125 megawatts was built on an area of 125 hectares. In the future, 131 billion kilowatt hours of electricity will be generated here per year. In purely mathematical terms, this can supply around 40,000 four-person households. Around 85,000 people live in the district.

The project developer has voluntarily committed to the standards of the "Good Planning" seal of quality from the Federal Association for New Energy Economy
e.V. (bne). To receive this seal, a solar park must, among other things, offer added value for nature and species conservation, the involvement of communities and citizens, and integration into the landscape. MaxSolar is implementing various biodiversity measures to meet the standards: an average row spacing of almost 4.80 meters between the modules has created a particularly large sunny strip. The species-rich and regional grassland seed mixtures used between the rows of modules create near-natural conditions above and below ground, so that the entire system, from soil organisms to insects and birds, benefits from the supply of food, protection and habitat. It offers a dry and warm habitat, especially for ground-nesting birds such as the skylark. buergersolarpark-bundorf.de
