Location: Cádiz, Costa Noroeste De Cadiz, Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain
The Royal Tobacco Factory of Cádiz was created in 1741 by Philip V and, although it moved to other places over time, the historic building that is preserved in Cádiz is a large neo-Mudejar style building built in 1829 on Plocia Street. This building, labeled the National Tobacco Factory of Cádiz, is currently in use as the Cádiz Congress Palace. The factory was a pioneer in the manufacture of cigars and served as a model for other factories in Spain. Furthermore, its historical importance is linked to the industrial and scientific development promoted by the Enlightenment in Spain1. Today, the building is a testament to the city's rich tobacco history.
