Hercules is the city's landmark. From the large viewing platform you have a wonderful view of the low mountain ranges from the Harz to the Rhön.
Since 1717, Kassel's landmark has stood on the summit of the Karlsberg at a height of 530 m above the city. The structure is the crowning glory of the 1.5 kilometer long cascade system.A steep pyramid rises on an octagon with a viewing platform, which is crowned by the monumental Hercules statue. The entire structure reaches a height of 71 meters and from the viewing platform you have a wonderful view of the entire baroque park, the city and the low mountain ranges.
