Newlands Corner was the site where legendary crime writer Agatha Christie staged her disappearance in 1926, only to be found days later in the Yorkshire town of Harrogate. It's also a beloved beauty spot, offering fine views across the Surrey countryside from the North Downs escarpment. Thanks to its facilities, it's also a very practical place to start a walk, with the option of the North Downs Way or objectives like St Martha's Hill and the famously picturesque village of Shere within hiking distance.
