Best Mountain Biking Routes to Ashcombe Windmill

Tips

  • Ashcombe Windmill was restored in 2007 after being destroyed in a storm in 1916, but its owner James Tasker. The six sails are known as 'sweeps' in Sussex.

The windmill was originally built in 1928 and is now used to generate electricity, with the surplus being exported to the grid. This was a planning requirement, stemming from the renewable energy policies of the South Downs National Park.
