The main building (House I) of the Gymnasium was opened in 1893 as a seminary for elementary school teachers. In 1922, a so-called state-run German secondary school was built here. In 1926 she received the name 'Bismarck School', which she kept until October 1945. In the former GDR she was used as an extended secondary school (EOS) 'Theodor Neubauer' and in 1991 received the name Bismarck -Gymnasium Genthin.
