The nature reserve is located in the south-eastern part of the city of Oldenburg and has a size of around 55 hectares. It is one of the few nature reserves in the Weser-Ems district that was created by humans and then left to nature after its use. A new nature reserve ordinance was passed on November 26, 2018 for the "Krusenbusch railway embankment site"
