The alpaca is a domesticated camel species from the South American Andes that is bred primarily for its wool. There are around 3.5 million alpacas in Peru, which makes up around 80 percent of the world's population. If you want to see these sweet and special animals in real life, you don't have to go to Peru. At the Schiltzhof in Hofweiler, you can watch them grazing all year round. Hofweiler is a district of the local community of Welschbillig with a total of 135 inhabitants.
