The building was built in 1995 by the Hochheider Dorfverein e.V. The chapel is home to the listed cast-iron cross, monument no. 18 of the town of Geilenkirchen. The Hochheider Dorfverein e.V. is responsible for its care and maintenance.

The chapel in Hochheid is a small brick building under a gable roof. The chapel, which is closed on three sides, is brick-clad and decorated with a wrought-iron door grille. On the roof there is a ridge turret with a weather vane. There is a prayer bench in the chapel. Saints' figures, candles and flowers find their place on an altar. The listed cast-iron crucifix is on the back wall.
