The mouth of the Tangier into the Elbe offered the best conditions for the construction of a port, which once contributed significantly to the development of the city of Tangermünde as a trading city. The natural branch was greatly expanded.

The port of Tangermünde is the dredged mouth of the Tangier into the Elbe. In its current form, it dates back to 1890. Here is an industrial port a few hundred meters long with a large grain silo. The much longer part, however, is a promenade with moorings for passenger ships and river cruise ships. Unfortunately, there are also parking spaces here - including for buses. Wonderful green spaces spread out here and invite you to stroll or linger. In the city center, it is bordered by the 10 to 12 meter high brick city wall.
