The Geleenbeek originates from the Geleenbeek Bronvijver in the hamlet of Benzenrade and then runs west through the border area of five municipalities (Heerlen, Voerendaal, Nuth, Schinnen and Beek), bends to the northwest (through the municipalities of Geleen and Sittard) and drains finally via the Keutelbeek and the Molenbeek on the Maas.
