"Lathom Park Chapel is the last remaining part of the medieval estate. It was built in 1500 by the First Earl of Derby as a private chapel and damaged during the siege by Cromwell's forces in 1644/5. The Chapel is in the grounds of the former Lathom House, now demolished. On the sale of the estate in 1924 the chapel became part of the parish of Ormskirk."
