The Uros floating islands are a series of artificial habitable areas made of reeds, an aquatic plant that grows on the surface of Lake Titicaca.

The islands stand on part of the surface of Lake Titicaca and are superimposed on blocks of reed roots on which successive layers of reeds, woven or interwoven into mats, are laid. Its inhabitants, the Uros, are an ancestral people who currently live on the Collao plateau and in Peru on the floating islands in the Bay of Puno.

Their livelihood is based on the ancient culture linked to the lake, based on the multiple uses of the reeds that spring from the bottom and fishing more than 2,562 years ago.
