In 2018, Natuur en Bos started a large heath restoration project in the Drongengoed (Maldegem/Knesselare). This project will run until 2022 and the second phase of the felling works will start at the end of August. Subsequently, sod work will be carried out from September to the end of November. The focus is on the restoration and strengthening of heathland and the redevelopment of light-rich forest edges. In this way, both the existing forest and heathland become richer in plant and animal species and of higher quality. In addition to the natural value, the amenity value will also increase.
