The Sint-Medarduskerk in Ursel is a rural church where the tower and the choir are classified as monuments. The artistic value of the church lies mainly in the 17th and 18th century furniture and the exceptional organ from 1749 by Pieter van Peteghem senior, the godfather of this organ building family. The first mention of a church in Ursel dates from 1171. After Ursel was destroyed in 1381 by the Ghent White Cubs, the church was rebuilt.
