The Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal, built between 1835 and 1846, ran south past Pfeifferhütte and there was a loading point (landing) for goods handling. This served mainly for the export of forest and agricultural products and the import of coal and building materials. In 1950, the Ludwigskanal was closed again, the landing stage fell into ruins and today, like the locks 36-43 and Mühlbachdamm, which have been preserved in the municipal area, is a listed building.
