Treysa Meteorite Discovery Site

On April 3, 1916 at 3:25 p.m. eyewitnesses reported a clap of thunder and clouds of smoke. The lights and sounds came from a meteorite falling from space onto the earth, which hit a wooded area near Rommershausen. The location of the meteorite decline was initially unknown. Based on the reports, a circular area with a radius of approximately 135 km was considered. Unfortunately, this is not entirely geographically correct; the real highlight is about 200 metres further on in the dense forest. This place is on the outskirts of the "red cave".
