On April 3, 1916 at 3:25 p.m. eyewitnesses reported a clap of thunder and clouds of smoke. The lights and sounds came from a meteorite falling from space onto the earth, which hit a wooded area near Rommershausen. The location of the meteorite decline was initially unknown. Based on the reports, a circular area with a radius of approximately 135 km was considered. According to newspaper reports, the area around Treysa and Ziegenhain was found to be the location of the fall

Unfortunately, this is not entirely geographically correct; the real highlight is about 200 metres further on in the dense forest. This place is on the outskirts of the "red cave".
