Although it's now closed to overnight guests, you can still check out the salt sculptures inside and the Dakar Rally and flag monuments outside (add your flag if you brought one). Find your own secluded piece of salt flat to enjoy and get out your props - this is where plastic dinosaurs come out, while photographers play with the bizarre perspective created by the bright blue skies and super-flat landscape. Many tour groups stop here for lunch.
