The Scholl siblings, who were executed as resistance fighters, have their roots in Hohenlohe. A plaque and a fence project on her grandfather's house in Steinbrück near Geißelhardt are also reminiscent of her.
The roots of the Scholl family in Hohenlohe:
Robert Scholl (1891 to 1973), the father of the siblings, was an administrative officer and came from the hamlet of Steinbrück near Mainhardt-Geißelhardt. His opposition to National Socialism earned him prison terms. The talented Robert Scholl attended secondary school as the fifth of eleven children. He learned, among other things, at the town hall in Geißelhardt. His wife Magdalena (1881 to 1958), née Müller, was called Lina. She came from Künzelsau and worked as a nurse at the Diak in Schwäbisch Hall.
Hans Scholl was born in Ingersheim an der Jagst in 1918. He was the second of six children born to Robert and Lina Scholl. Sophie Scholl was born in Forchtenberg in 1921, where the family lived until 1930. As students, Hans and Sophie Scholl fought against the Nazi regime with leaflets. They were part of the White Rose resistance group. 75 years ago, on February 22, 1943, the siblings and their fellow student Christoph Probst were executed by the National Socialists for this.
