Calderico Hill rises in the middle of the La Mancha plain, visible for miles around, giving Consuegra (Toledo) its own distinctive identity. The most significant heritage features include the Castle and the Windmills that extend along its summit, following its longitudinal profile. The views of the windmills and castle are truly remarkable.

The Hill rises in the middle of the La Mancha plain, being visible from many kilometers away. Here you will find the Muela or Consuegra castle, of Muslim origin and expanded in the 12th century by the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem. The transfer of the castle and its alfoz to the knights was carried out in the year 1183 by Alfonso VIII, although the fortress had already been reconquered by Alfonso VI, exactly one hundred years before, being the site of constant war confrontations.

The extensions to the castle continued over the centuries to adapt to the uses and customs of each era, providing it with an archive, chapel, chapter house, cisterns, defenses...

In addition to the castle, on Cerro Calderico there are windmills, located at the top of the hill to better take advantage of the air currents. Of the thirteen mills that originally existed, 12 have been recovered, which are the ones that can be enjoyed in the town today. Each one with its own name, many are dedicated to La Mancha themes, others evoke chapters from Don Quixote.
