Reuchelheim was settled by the Franks between 500 and 700 AD and developed from seven free farms in today's town center. Other sources say it was founded by a knight Ruchilo. The first documented mention dates back to 907, when a certain Lichtenstein held the village as a pledge. From the 16th century, Reuchelheim belonged to the Arnstein tithe court. The church of St. Johannes Baptista was built in 1750 in the Rococo style and restored in 1904.Winegrowing has always been native to the town and has continued to this day.
