The chapel was built in 1856 as a half-timbered building on the heat family farm. It was later replaced by today's brick building. The altar comes from FranzWärme's house chapel.

The Hanemicker chapel, "To the painful mother", is located above the Sonden mini golf course. In front of the chapel is a memorial plaque for the priest, FranzWärme, who was born in Hanemicke. The FranzWärme adventure trail therefore also leads past the chapel.
