Filial Church of St. James the Elder

Built on a rocky outcrop in Eich and visible from far away in the Naab Valley, there is a small church that looks back on a rich history. It is dedicated to St. James, the patron saint of pilgrims. It is assumed that one of the St. James pilgrimage routes in the Upper Palatinate passed through here.
The Romanesque hall church was built in the middle of the 12th century. From the second half of the 16th century until around 1700 it was deconsecrated. It consists of a nave and a recessed, straight-ended choir in the east. An octagonal ridge turret rises from the gable roof of the nave in the west, which houses the tower clock and the bell cage and is covered with an onion dome.
The interior of the nave, which has a gallery in the west, is covered with a flat ceiling, that of the choir with a barrel vault. The church furnishings include an altar erected around 1730.
The church also has a small organ with 6 registers, which was built by a French organ builder, Franz Xaver Bouthillier, in 1839 and restored in 2003 by the organ building company Schädler.
    The church is usually closed.
