Maaraue Lachebrücke Floßhafen - MZ Kosteim🚴The Maaraue is a peninsula at the confluence of the Main and Rhine rivers and belongs to the Mainz-Kostheim district of Wiesbaden. Today, the Maaraue Island is primarily a recreational area, home to a campsite and an outdoor swimming pool, among other things, and a large meadow is open for barbecues.
The Maaraue was of greater importance during the heyday of rafting on the Main, which is why the branch separating the Maaraue from the mainland is still called Floßhafen or Lache today. In this rafting harbor, rafters could dock safely due to the lower current. After rafting ceased, the flow from the Main was altered so that the Maaraue only becomes a true island during high water. The part of the rafting harbor that still contains water now forms a harbor for the boats of the Wiesbaden Water Police Station and for recreational boats, and it also serves as a training ground for rowers.
The Lache Bridge is also located here, serving as a pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the old raft harbor, providing a direct connection for the Maaraue towards the Kostheim Reduit or the Theodor Heuss Bridge. 🚴♂️Type: Steel bridge with wooden decking

Very cool bridge including the location of the water police and a small boat harbor in the Maaraue

Quaint bridge to get back to the "mainland" from the Maaraue over the raft harbor. The bridge rattled when driving over 20 years ago, it still rattles today but it stops 😂😜.
