"On the way to and from Bad Windsheim, you can take a detour to the renovated watchtower on the Weinturm plateau. From there, you have a wonderful view over Windsheim Bay. Whether as an observation post, tourist destination, or architectural monument, the watchtower has a varied history. It has existed for almost 600 years: as early as 1428, a wooden watchtower was built in the vineyards to protect the town's winegrowing and to monitor the road to Würzburg. The tower, as we know it today, was built in 1674. The building is a unique monument with a stone ground floor and a wooden superstructure."
